Howdy Dowdy Do That?

Way back in the olden days, I did a little podcast with some friends. Don’t worry, you (probably) won’t be able to find it. On the podcast we all would play little characters that would interrupt the recordings to big laughs and gaffs.

One of the characters I played was Banjo Jones, a prospector with a unhealthy obsession with gold and maintaining the “Gold Code” - a sacred set of rules and regulations that gold prospectors must follow.

Below is a clip of the character’s first appearance (along with the impromptu creation of Banjo’s frenemy, rival prospector Benjamin Frome):

Later, when I was tooling around with the idea of jumping right into the origin of the card deck for Round 2 of Rowdydow, the setting I had in mind made me think of a prospector and for me there’s no better pan-handler than Banjo.

So I very lazily reused the character.

Oh, and also decided to use Benjamin Frome’s name for his sleepy Ox friend because I thought Banjo himself would find using Benji’s name for a stinky Ox to be a “hoot and a holler!”
