Howdy Dowdy, My Rowdies

I’ve got another set of two pages for y’all. Forgive the slowness of these updates. I’m focusing on completing the next round so that I can have them all under my belt and ready to upload more regularly.

HowdyDowdy Do That?

Now is a great opportunity to share some of the early sketches of this little guy who’s making such a big fuss. In the round 2 script he’s called the “cosmic wizard”, but I’ve been referring to him more as the “shape wizard.”

The concept was to come up with a design that was very unconventional for a “wizard” (for reasons…maybe we’ll learn more later) and felt kind of “otherworldly.”

I’ve found that forcing myself to draw things much smaller than I normally would helps simplify and thereby improve the focus of a design, if that makes sense. In the pic above you can see where there are two mini wizard figures, which I then took and explored more on the next page, along with testing the idea of removing arms and replacing them with a ribbon) and how holding the cards would work with that):

Oh! I also have started dipping my toes into the poisonous pool of social media again! YAY! Bluesky apparently is one of the only social platforms out there that is not selling your posts to AI companies…for now at least. I hope that statement ages well.
